IMPROVING EDUCATION: Traditional Ruler Pledges Support for AGILE Project.

The Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Umar Adamu Sanda, has pledged to support the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project for the overall interest of the citizenry.

The Royal father gave the assurance when the project COORDINATOR of the Adolescent Girls initiative for learning and empowerment, Mr Siddiki Liman, and his team paid him a courtesy visit to his palace.

Alhaji Umar Adamu Sanda reiterates his commitment to mobilizing and enlightening his subjects on the importance of embracing and enrolling the girl’s child on the project.

The Gangwari Ganye said educating a girl child is educating the nation and thanked Governor Ahmadu Umar fintiri for keying into the project’s promise to reciprocate the gesture for the overall benefit of the people of Adamawa.

Earlier speaking, the project coordinator of the Adolescent Girl Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Engineer Siddiki Liman, represented by Mallam Mohammed Hassan, Said the project aims to bring hope to the girl children, the communities, and the education sector in general.

He stated that they are his palace to introduce the AGILE project and seek his fatherly support as the project aims to provide succour in the education sector, pointing out that the project is a World Bank-supported project in collaboration with the Adamawa State government.

Engineer Siddiki Liman explained that the purpose of the Adolescent Girl Initiative for learning and empowerment is to change the narrative in education and proofer solutions and challenges facing the Education sector.

He announced that Adamawa is among the 18 States currently running the project and has a completion period of five years, pointing out that the project tends to train the girl child from primary six to secondary school.

The AGILE coordinator further stated that the project has three components, which are creating an accessible, safe learning space in secondary school, fostering an enabling environment for girl children as well as project management and system strengthening.

Engineer Siddiki Liman stresses that there is also a second chance education, which aims at enrolling a girl child who was in school but left due to social enrollment and economic challenges.

He said the project also has a financial incentive to be given to the girl child to provide a timely stipend in the form of monetary support to the girl child in primary six to junior secondary school three to enable them to stay in school.

Siddiki Liman says all hands must be on deck for the project to bring sanity and positive change in education for the betterment of society and the state in general.

The team then presented a souvenir to the Gangwari Ganye Alhaji Umar Adamu sanda.
