The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council in Adamawa State has rejected claims by the Chairman of Mubi South Local Government Council, Hamidu Dirbishi, that the party is working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed by the PDP Campaign Council, the allegation was described as false, malicious and unsupported by facts or verifiable evidence.
The council said it was particularly concerned that the claim came from a local government chairman, who it described as a political leader expected to demonstrate responsibility and sound judgment in public discourse.
The PDP Campaign Council maintained that political debates should be based on issues, policies and verifiable facts rather than what it described as speculative claims and unfounded accusations.
It also rejected any suggestion that the PDP had become an appendage of the APC, stressing that the party remained a major political force in Adamawa State.
According to the council, the PDP has historically dominated the state’s political landscape, apart from the period between 2015 and 2019 when the party lost control of the state government.
The campaign council said the PDP remained committed to its candidate, party structure, supporters and the people of Adamawa State.
It challenged political opponents to focus on competing through ideas and policies rather than creating what it called “imaginary alliances” to mislead the electorate.
“The PDP is not working for the APC. The PDP is working for the people of Adamawa State,” the statement said.
The council expressed confidence in its leadership, political structures and the support of the people ahead of the 2027 elections, declaring: “We are not competing. We are leading!”
