POWER SUPPLY: Senator Aminu Iya Abbas Installs New Transformers in Makama ‘B’ and Wuro Dole

In a major boost to grassroots infrastructure and economic activity, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas has facilitated the installation of high-capacity electricity transformers in Makama ‘B’ and Wuro Dole communities of Adamawa Central Senatorial District.

The installations, completed this week, represent a significant step in addressing persistent power outages that have long affected residents and small-scale businesses across the area.

For communities in Adarawo Ward and surrounding settlements, the development marks the end of prolonged periods of darkness and erratic electricity supply, which had hindered business operations, learning activities, and general household safety.

Lighting Up Adamawa Central

Senator Abbas, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science and Technology, described the intervention as part of a broader, strategic effort under his “Light Up Adamawa Central” initiative.

According to him, restoring electricity to Makama ‘B’ and Wuro Dole will directly improve livelihoods by enabling artisans such as barbers and tailors to operate efficiently, while also supporting students and healthcare services.

The project is expected to deliver immediate benefits, including stable voltage supply to hundreds of households and improved street lighting, which could help enhance security in the affected communities.

Technical teams have also been deployed to other identified blackout zones across the seven local government areas within the district, as part of ongoing efforts to expand access to reliable electricity.

Residents of the benefiting communities, including Abubakar Adamu and Blessing Isaac, expressed relief and appreciation, describing the development as long overdue after years of unsuccessful appeals for intervention.

“This is a breath of fresh air for our community,” they noted, highlighting the positive impact the transformers will have on daily life and local businesses.

With work now progressing to additional priority locations, the initiative complements other interventions by the Senator, including youth training in solar power technology and advocacy on flood mitigation along the River Benue corridor.

As more installations are expected in the coming days, Adamawa Central continues to witness gradual improvements in power infrastructure, raising hopes for a more productive and economically vibrant year ahead.
