Ramadan Palliative: Binos Reaches Out to the Less Privileged with 4,856 Bags of Rice and Other Food Items

A total of 4,856 bags of rice, 2,000 bags of sugar, 2,000 bags of spaghetti, and 246 gallons of groundnut oil have been distributed to the less privileged and vulnerable individuals across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) that make up the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
This initiative is part of Senator (Rev.) Binos Dauda Yaroe’s efforts to alleviate hardship in rural communities during the holy month of Ramadan.
Each Ward within the nine LGAs is allocated 50 bags of rice to be shared among the elderly and less privileged, regardless of political or tribal backgrounds.
To facilitate the distribution of these commodities to all the Wards across the nine LGAs, a budget of ₦2.4 million has been set aside for transportation and logistics, enabling Coordinators to deliver the items to the intended beneficiaries efficiently.
Senator Binos Yaroe explained to reporters just before the distribution exercise that the middle of Ramadan is a crucial time, prompting his decision to assist Muslims and vulnerable members of society during this period.
Represented by Hon. Adiyel Kurga, Senator Binos emphasized that effective mechanisms have been established to ensure the Coordinators can easily reach the intended beneficiaries.
He stated, “People in this country have been experiencing difficult situations due to the high cost of living, especially now that people are fasting. The Senator decided to help his constituents with these palliatives to reduce the hardship in various households at the grassroots level.”
Coordinator for Jada LGA, Hon. Yosi Isaiah Leru, confirmed that effective procedures have been put in place to facilitate the distribution process. She explained, “Each of the nine LGAs has three Coordinators overseeing this distribution, along with Coordinators in each Ward. Additionally, there are Unit Coordinators from each LGA. When we receive the palliatives, we will invite all Ward and Unit Coordinators.”
By involving everyone, they believe these items will effectively reach the grassroots level. In Jada LGA, for example, there are 11 Wards, equating to approximately 550 bags of rice.
Hon. Leru expressed confidence that the palliatives would not be sold by the beneficiaries, as they would be directed toward those in genuine need.
While commending Senator Binos Yaroe for his benevolence, Hon. Leru assured him of transparency in the distribution process.
Similarly, the Coordinator for Guyuk LGA, Mr. Robinson Raymond, highlighted the Senator’s commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of his constituents, especially the less privileged and physically challenged. He noted that this initiative is part of the Senator’s efforts to alleviate hardship during Ramadan.
Raymond stated, “This is not the first time Senator Binos Yaroe has undertaken such a commendable initiative. As Coordinators, we have been tasked with ensuring transparency in the distribution of these palliatives. We have already developed modalities to effectively deliver these items to the less privileged and vulnerable, as instructed by the Senator. The distribution could begin as soon as we reach our respective LGAs.”
Another Coordinator from Shelleng LGA, Haj. Maryamu Shelleng Isa, praised Senator Binos Yaroe for emphasizing transparency throughout the distribution process, assuring him that all items would be distributed as instructed.
She remarked, “Senator Binos Yaroe has placed his trust in us, which is why he has entrusted these palliatives into our hands as Coordinators. He expects transparency and accountability from us, and with God’s grace, we will fulfil this responsibility.”
Haj. Shelling also noted that some people had expressed concerns on social media regarding the timing of the palliative distribution before and during the initial weeks of Ramadan. She explained, “People prepared for Ramadan, and while we had sufficient supplies initially, many items have since run out. This is the perfect time for distribution.”
In conclusion, while thanking Senator Binos Yaroe for his effort to support the less privileged and vulnerable in rural communities, Haj. Shelleng assured the people of Shelleng of fairness and justice in the distribution process.
For transportation and logistics, Guyuk, Shelleng, Lamurde, and Toungo LGAs received funds totalling ₦N500,000 each, Numan LGA received ₦N460,000, while Demsa and Jada’s LGAs received ₦N420,000 and ₦N400,000, respectively
