In a solemn and joyful celebration, the Catholic Diocese of Yola witnessed the ordination of four new priests.
The event, which took place at the Cathedral of St. Theresa’s Cathedral, was presided over by Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza.
The newly ordained priests are Rev Fr. John Peter Wild, Rev Fr. Joseph Hyginus, Rev Fr. Robinson Bernard Gutaro, and Rev Fr. Godwin Ibrahim Clement.
The ceremony was marked by deep spiritual fervour as the candidates were called forward to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders. Family members, friends, and the faithful of the Diocese of Yola filled the cathedral to witness this momentous occasion.

Bishop Mamza, in his homily, spoke about the significance of the priesthood as a call to service, emphasizing the importance of humility, sacrifice, and dedication to the spiritual well-being of the community. He encouraged the new priests to be true servants of the Gospel, always ready to lead by example and bring hope to the people of God.
“I am honoured to ordain these men, who have answered God’s call with courage and faith,” Bishop Mamza said. “Their commitment to serving God and His people will be a source of strength and guidance for the Church in our Diocese and beyond.”
The ordination was also a celebration of the vibrant Catholic community in the Diocese of Yola, as it continues to grow both spiritually and numerically. The four new priests are expected to serve in various parishes and institutions within the diocese, bringing their unique gifts and talents to their ministry.

Following the ceremony, the new priests were warmly embraced by the faithful, who expressed their joy and support for the men who are now part of the clergy. As the newly ordained priests offered their first blessings, the congregation responded with loud cheers and applause, affirming their commitment to support them in their journey of faith.
The event was also attended by other clergy members, including priests, deacons, and religious leaders, who joined Bishop Mamza in congratulating the new priests on their sacred vocation.
The Diocese of Yola, under the guidance of Bishop Mamza, continues to make significant strides in fostering religious vocations and promoting a culture of service within the Church. The ordination of these four men is a testament to the ongoing work of the Diocese in nurturing future leaders for the Catholic faith.
