
The government of Adamawa state has expressed its appreciation to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and other development partners for their valuable support in the healthcare sector.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri conveyed his commendation during the official distribution of hospital equipment and essential commodities to various health agencies across the state.
This significant event, hosted at the state health supply management agency and themed “Strengthening healthcare system and building capacity for health service delivery in Adamawa state,” marked a pivotal moment in the state’s healthcare landscape.
Representing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the commissioner for health and human services, Chief Felix Tangwami, conveyed the government’s gratitude to the development partners for their timely interventions across the 21 local government areas and ensured the conscientious utilization of the donated commodities.

In addition, Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, the state executive chairman of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, extended appreciation for the support of donor partners, particularly in enhancing health service delivery.
Timothy Golfa, the field coordinator of IRC, lauded the Adamawa state government for its prioritization of the health sector and pledged sustained support to complement the government’s initiatives in providing essential health services to its citizens.
Furthermore, he outlined the IRC’s plan to establish a real-time monitoring system, including a dashboard and situation room, to track health outcomes and assess the performance of health facilities and personnel.

“To be able to monitor in real-time the health outcomes of the state, the IRC is creating a dashboard and a situation room to monitor in real-time health outcomes and track performance of Primary Health Care Authorities, staff and health Facilities, in like manner, IRC create a stock status.
The dashboard/situation room at the Drug Management Agency (DMA) will manage commodities better in the state. This is to digitize the Integrated Human Resources Information System (IHRIS), enabling the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA) to efficiently manage healthcare personnel and address workforce gaps-Golfa stated”

The donated commodities, comprising office furniture, computers, and electrical and electronics equipment, is set to be allocated to various health agencies, including the state primary healthcare development agency, health supply agency, and the state College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Notably, the donation also included medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, lab equipment, and emergency response tools, aimed at fortifying service delivery in 49 health facilities across 14 local government areas.
Furthermore, the IRC’s contribution of modern electrified teaching aids, laptops, and desktop computer sets to the Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery seeks to augment the institution’s capacity for student enrollment and bolster the production of skilled nurses and midwives.
“To sustain quality service delivery, medical equipment including oxygen concentrators, Lab equipment, and emergency response tools were also donated thereby strengthening service delivery in 49 health facilities across 14 Local Government Areas- ”
” The Adamawa State College of Nursing and Midwifery Yola being the major producer of HRH in the State, the IRC donated modern electrified teaching aids, 50 laptop computers for academic staff, and 60 desktop computer sets for the school’s e-library, filling in the gaps noticed on the school’s Institutional capacity development plan thereby, ultimately increasing their capacity for student enrollment and boosting the production of skilled nurses and midwives- Golfa Stated”

The leaders of the benefiting agencies conveyed their gratitude to the partners and affirmed their commitment to the judicious utilization of the items to enhance health services in the state.
