The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor of the defunct Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur (CON).
In a condolence message, Bishop Mamza described the late elder statesman as a distinguished son of Adamawa, visionary leader and accomplished businessman whose decades of service left an indelible mark on Nigeria.
He said Tukur, who also served as Minister for Industries, devoted his wisdom, experience and energy to the development of society and the wellbeing of many people.
The Bishop, on behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Yola, extended heartfelt condolences to the Tukur family, particularly Alhaji Awwal Tukur and his siblings, describing the deceased as not only a father but also a mentor, guide and pillar of strength to his family.
Bishop Mamza prayed that God would grant Alhaji Bamanga Tukur eternal rest and comfort the bereaved family during their moment of grief.
He also prayed for strength and faith for the Tukur family to enable them carry forward the late elder statesman’s legacy of integrity, service and dedication to humanity.
