
Chief Felix B. Tangwami has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Adamawa South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Chairman and Returning Officer of the APC Senatorial Primary Committee for Adamawa Southern Zone, Usman H. Mapeo, announced the result on Monday in Numan, declaring Tangwami the duly elected candidate of the party after polling the highest number of votes cast during the exercise.
Mapeo said the primary election was conducted successfully across the nine local government areas of Demsa, Numan, Lamurde, Mayo-Belwa, Jada, Ganye, Toungo, Guyuk and Shelleng.
According to him, a total of 275,704 voters were registered across the zone, while 198,676 voters were accredited for the exercise. He added that 187,675 valid votes were cast during the primary election.
The results released by the committee showed that Tangwami secured a total of 103,762 votes to defeat eight other aspirants in the contest.
Other contestants and their scores included Ahmed Abubakar, who polled 10,220 votes; Grace Folashade Bent, 15,238 votes; Rubainu Calvin, 2,207 votes; Charles Luri Bala, 12,977 votes; Adamu Ismaila, 19,457 votes; Dahiru Lawan Sanda, 2,712 votes; Peter Leonard N. Fwa, 9,537 votes; and Martins Babale, who garnered 11,565 votes.
Declaring the outcome of the election, Mapeo stated that Tangwami, having scored the highest number of lawful votes cast, was returned elected as the APC candidate for Adamawa South Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
The declaration was greeted with jubilation as party supporters and loyalists celebrated Tangwami’s emergence as the APC flag bearer for the southern senatorial zone.
