Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Southern Senatorial Zone staged a peaceful protest against the alleged imposition of a House of Representatives candidate for Demsa, Numan, and Lamurde constituency, Kwamoti Laori.
The demonstration took place in Numan, where dozens of aspirants, party members, and supporters gathered at the APC Zonal Secretariat, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “No to Imposition,” “Allow Free Primaries,” and “Let the People Decide.”
The aggrieved House of Representatives aspirants said the protest was triggered by reports that a single candidate had been selected without consultation or a primary election.

According to them, they are not against any individual but rather oppose a process that sidelines other aspirants and disregards the will of party members at the grassroots level. Democracy within the party must be respected.
They emphasise that the aspirants have invested time and resources in mobilising support across the three local government areas and deserve a level playing field.
However, they call on the state and national leadership of the APC to cancel any imposed list and to allow a transparent primary election.
The aggrieved aspirants state they remain loyal to the APC. Their demand is simple: let members choose who represents them. Imposition weakens the party and provides an advantage to the opposition.

The protest ended peacefully, with the aspirants pledging to continue engaging party structures through constitutional channels.ugh constitutional channels.ugh constitutional channels.ugh constitutional channels.ugh constitutional channels.ugh constitutional channels.
