Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on citizens to embrace the values of love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and unity as exemplified by Jesus Christ.The governor made the call during the 2026 Easter Interdenominational Combined Service organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State chapter.The service, held at St. Theresa Catholic Cathedral, Yola featured the theme: “The Assurance of Christ’s Resurrection: Our Living Hope.” It marked the commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ after His crucifixion, symbolizing victory over sin and death for the redemption of mankind.Represented by his deputy, Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri noted that the resurrection of Christ remains a symbol of hope, urging Christians to remain steadfast despite challenges.He described Easter as a reminder of the triumph of life over death, hope over despair, and light over darkness, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to investing in critical sectors, strengthening security, and promoting policies that uplift the vulnerable.The governor also encouraged citizens to use the Easter season to mend broken relationships, foster unity, and work collectively towards building a peaceful and harmonious Adamawa State. He further urged religious leaders to continue praying for the state and the nation, while promoting moral integrity and peaceful coexistence.In his remarks, the Adamawa State CAN Chairman, Joel Danjuma Manzo, said the gathering reflected the shared commitment of Christians to peace, unity, and progress.He called on the faithful to remain united and extend love beyond boundaries, cautioning against personal interests that could undermine collective goals. He also commended the Fintiri administration for its developmental strides, particularly in the area of security, and urged the governor to remain focused.Delivering the sermon, the Dean, Gideon Samari, described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the foundation of the Christian faith, noting that it offers believers victory and a living hope.He urged Christians to propagate the gospel and live as worthy ambassadors of Christ.The Easter service featured special prayers for the government of Adamawa State, divine intervention in the state’s political processes, and thanksgiving, bringing the event to a close.
Reverend Father Maurice Kwairanga led the Christian faithful in solemn prayers for the nation, its leaders, and traditional rulers, calling for unity, peace, and God’s guidance in governance.
He also offered special prayers for the newly created chiefdoms in Adamawa State, asking for divine wisdom, understanding, and cooperation among leaders and communities as they navigate this new phase of traditional administration.
The prayers emphasized the need for harmony, justice, and collective progress across the state.
