
The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Stephen Dami Mamza, has extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to the Muslim Ummah, calling for renewed commitment to peace, compassion, and unity.
In his goodwill message marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Bishop Mamza congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the fast and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon them and their families.
He noted that Eid-el-Fitr, celebrated in the month of Shawwal, symbolizes God’s mercy and highlights the importance of faith, sacrifice, and compassion in human life.
According to him, the Ramadan period reinforces shared values such as kindness to the vulnerable, generosity to the needy, and respect for human dignity.
The cleric emphasized that these virtues are critical to building a harmonious society where people of different religious and cultural backgrounds can coexist peacefully.
Focusing on the North East region, Bishop Mamza acknowledged the challenges of hardship, displacement, and insecurity, commending residents for their resilience and commitment to prayer, charity, and unity. He said such efforts are vital in healing divisions, restoring hope, and fostering collective progress.
He further called for stronger interfaith relations, urging Christians and Muslims to deepen bonds of friendship and work together in promoting peace, justice, and mutual respect.
Bishop Mamza prayed that the Eid celebration would usher in lasting peace, joy, and prosperity for all.
