MCRP Adamawa Organizes workshops for Agricultural cooperatives on practice and sustainability.

The North-east multi-sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP), under the Adamawa state project coordination unit in collaboration with Nazwala Integrated Services, Yola, has organized a two-day training workshop for Agricultural cooperative members regarding best practices for agricultural cooperatives sustainability in Adamawa state.

The training exercise took place at the Admiral Nyako Training Center, State Secretariat Complex Jimeta, Yola.
Mr Ahmed Babale Mirchaulum, The team leader of the initiative, says the North-East multi-sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) is aimed at training Agricultural cooperatives for sustainability.

He enlightened that the essence of the two-day workshop is to educate and train newly established cooperatives formed by MCRP as well as already existing cooperatives on how various cooperatives are to run.

This training, he said, will enable the participants to have knowledge on how to manage resources provided to them based on loans, and be able to increase food productivity in Adamawa state.

Mr Ahmed mentioned that the training covers essential areas such as effective governance, financial management, marketing strategies and climate-smart Agriculture.

Participants of the training cut across the 21 local governments of Adamawa state, with 15 representatives from 5 cooperatives at various local governments.

He further stated that the organization is gender inclusive and that upon completion of the ongoing training, stakeholders will embark on monitoring and evaluating the impact of the training that has been conducted.

Prof Jude Momodu, a facilitator and also the director of the Center for Peace and Strategic Studies, moddibo Adams University, Yola. Says the overall aim of the program is to improve the capacity of cooperatives in Adamawa state to enable them to perform their duties effectively.

The organization’s resource person, Mr Bambi Babatunde Shola, says cooperation is the essential organization to Every farmer, Agricultural institute and individual at large.

He encourages the representative to pass down the knowledge they have acquired to their team members on return to their various local government areas.

He, in turn, advises the general public to always seize the opportunity of training or workshops to improve on knowledge and be up to date.

Furthermore, a representative of Hong’s local government, Dickson Naya, expressed her sincere gratitude to the organizers of the program as well as the state government, saying that the training was a very educative and insightful one.
