The Adamawa State Youth Christian Movement for Change (ADSYCMC), a coalition of Christian youths drawn from communities across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, has endorsed Alhaji Abdulrahman Bashir Haske as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
The group announced its position at a press conference presented by Comrade Bitrus Tanies who is the PRO of the organization.
The group noted that the decision followed what it described as extensive consultations, prayers and assessment of aspirants seeking to govern the state under different political platforms.
According to the group, its endorsement of Haske, who is seeking the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Movement (APM), was based on what it described as his track record in business, youth empowerment, philanthropy and humanitarian services.
The Chairman of ADSYCMC, Comrade Yakuba Maigari, said the group had closely followed Haske’s political activities and described his involvement in grassroots mobilisation and party development as evidence of his commitment to public service.
The group also praised Haske for what it described as his inclusive approach to leadership, alleging that he relates with people across ethnic and religious divides.
“Adamawa needs a healer, not a divider,” the group said, describing Haske as a compassionate leader who, if elected, would promote peaceful coexistence and equitable development across the state.
The Christian youth group further said it was seeking a leader capable of addressing challenges such as infrastructure deficits, unemployment, insecurity and youth and women empowerment.
It said it would mobilise support for Haske across the state, including taking its campaign message to Christian communities and worship centres across the 226 wards.
The group also called on Christian youths, women, men and other residents who share its vision of development to join the movement.
It, however, did not provide specific details or independent evidence to substantiate all of the claims made about Haske’s record during the press conference.
