Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed allegations linking him to an alleged move to replace the party’s duly nominated governorship candidate in Adamawa State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the allegation as “entirely false, malicious and the product of mischief-makers” seeking to create unnecessary division within the ADC, particularly in Adamawa State.
The statement maintained that Atiku had neither initiated nor approved any attempt to replace any duly nominated candidate of the party anywhere in the country.
It stressed that as the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku has consistently respected the party’s internal democratic processes and remains committed to upholding decisions taken by its constitutionally recognised organs.
The former vice president called on party members, supporters and the general public to disregard what he described as baseless propaganda aimed at creating tension and distracting the party from its collective goal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, those behind the allegations are pursuing narrow political interests rather than the unity of the party.
Atiku reaffirmed his commitment to uniting the ADC and leading the party into the 2027 elections, pledging to continue respecting every lawful decision taken by the party in line with its constitution and established procedures.
