2027 ELECTION: ADC Campaign Alleges Selective Prosecution Over Poster Case, Urges Equal Enforcement of Law.

The Omarana Campaign Organization has criticized the criminal proceedings instituted by the Adamawa State Government against the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Amb. Engr. Omar Suleiman (Omarana), over alleged indiscriminate placement of campaign posters.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, the campaign said it respects the rule of law and has confidence in the judiciary to determine the matter, but described the prosecution as a political distraction from the state’s pressing governance challenges.
The organization argued that despite years of persistent environmental problems, including indiscriminate waste disposal, overflowing refuse dumps, poor sanitation, and blocked drainage systems, the government has failed to provide lasting solutions. It questioned why greater attention was being given to the prosecution of a governorship candidate instead of addressing unemployment, insecurity, healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and economic development.
The campaign maintained that environmental regulations should be enforced fairly against all political parties, noting that campaign posters belonging to several parties remain visible across the state. It said the apparent focus on the ADC raises concerns about consistency and impartiality in law enforcement.
According to the statement, the campaign has already directed its supporters, volunteers, and coordinators to stop indiscriminate placement of posters, banners, stickers, and other campaign materials on public infrastructure and private property. It described the directive as evidence of its commitment to environmental responsibility and lawful political engagement.
The organization reaffirmed that Amb. Omar Suleiman’s administration, if elected, would prioritize sustainable waste management, urban renewal, afforestation, climate-smart development policies, and environmental sanitation as part of its vision of building “Adamawa That Works, For Today, For Tomorrow.”
The campaign also called on its supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and environmentally responsible while urging authorities to enforce all laws fairly and professionally without regard to political affiliation. It insisted that the legal proceedings would not distract its candidate from continuing his campaign across Adamawa State.
