
HONG LGA, ADAMAWA STATE Chief Maurice Vunobolki on Saturday, August 8, 2026, joined thousands of mourners, family members, political leaders and well-wishers at the funeral service and burial of the late Baba Joseph Bartholomew Dabaldi, who died on July 28, 2026, at the age of 81.
The funeral was held in the deceased’s hometown of Matafash Kwakwa’ah, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Vunobolki attended the ceremony alongside his running mate, the Director-General of his campaign organisation, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters. He described the occasion as an opportunity to honour Baba’s life and legacy and to stand with his family in their time of grief.
Baba Dabaldi was the father of Joseph Adakushu Dabaldi, Vunobolki’s Personal Assistant, who has worked closely with him for more than four years.

While consoling the bereaved family, Vunobolki commended Joseph Jr for his good conduct, dedication and contributions over the years, noting that his character and commitment reflected the values instilled in him and his siblings by their late father.
He extended his condolences to the immediate family, relatives, friends and well-wishers, praying that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The funeral attracted prominent sons and political figures from Hong, including former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gidahyelda Mustapha, and the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wesley Baltiya, among other dignitaries.
On his way back,Vunobolki stopped at the residence of Hyellabla John Zira-Adah to condole with him over the death of his mother, Late Ama Rahuta John Dzarma, who died on August 2, 2026.

He also paid homage to the District Head of Hong, Alhaji Mahmud Umar Babangida Sabo, Khadimul Qur’an.
During the visit, the District Head appreciated Vunobolki and his team for the gesture and commended the strength and quality of the team supporting the PDP governorship candidate. He prayed for the success of Vunobolki’s campaign and wished him well in his political journey.
On arrival in Yola, Vunobolki visited Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital check on the young man from Mubi who was allegedly shot by soldiers.
The series of visits underscored Vunobolki’s commitment to standing with the people.
