The Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has pledged to tackle insecurity, poverty and other socio-economic challenges confronting Nigeria, promising to place inclusive governance and national development at the centre of his administration if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Makinde made the pledge during the APM Northeast Town Hall Meeting held in Yola, Adamawa State, on Saturday, where party stakeholders, candidates and supporters from across the region gathered to strategise ahead of the elections.
The APM presidential candidate criticised the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, arguing that the government had not done enough to address the country’s persistent electricity challenges, insecurity, rising transportation costs and the effective utilisation of national assets.

He maintained that Nigeria required a new approach to governance that would translate the country’s resources into tangible benefits for its citizens, improve living conditions and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
Makinde promised that his administration, if elected, would pursue inclusive governance that gives every Nigerian a sense of belonging, irrespective of geographical location, ethnicity or political affiliation.
He also commended the people of Adamawa State and the wider Northeast region for their reception, support and mobilisation efforts, describing their participation as a demonstration of the importance of grassroots engagement in building a national political movement.

Also speaking, the National Leader of the APM and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, expressed appreciation to party members and stakeholders for the arrangements made to welcome Makinde to the region.
Mohammed described the APM as a credible political platform for addressing Nigeria’s challenges and called on Nigerians to support the party and its candidates across the country in the 2027 elections.
He said the party was committed to resetting the country through policies and programmes aimed at improving governance, addressing the needs of citizens and fulfilling its campaign promises.

In their remarks, APM governorship candidates from the Northeast, speaking through the party’s Adamawa State governorship candidate, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, assured the presidential candidate of their commitment to grassroots mobilisation and coordinated campaigns to secure the party’s victory in the forthcoming elections.
They emphasised the need for unity among party members and sustained engagement with voters across the region to strengthen the APM’s political presence ahead of the polls.
The meeting attracted party leaders, stakeholders, candidates and supporters from the six states of the Northeast, with participants expressing their readiness to intensify mobilisation and campaign activities in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
