Binani Remains Strong Contender for Adamawa Governorship, Campaign Council Replies TG News

The campaign council of Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani has rejected a political analysis published by TG News Online suggesting that the former governorship candidate is losing political relevance following her move from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a response to the publication, the campaign council described the analysis as misleading, arguing that a change of political party does not diminish Binani’s political influence or public standing in Adamawa State.

The council maintained that Binani remains a prominent political figure with considerable experience and grassroots support, insisting that she still has a strong chance of emerging as governor of the state.

It acknowledged that the senator faced significant challenges during the previous governorship election but alleged that various forces frustrated her bid to secure the office.

The council further claimed that Binani had won the previous governorship race but was denied victory, describing the outcome as a national conspiracy. The allegation was presented without supporting evidence in the statement.

Defending her continued political ambition, the campaign council said Binani’s decision to contest again reflects her commitment to the people of Adamawa State and her desire to provide effective leadership.

It also criticised sections of the media for what it described as a lack of professionalism in political reporting, alleging that some journalists abandoned their independence during the previous election.

The council called on journalists to uphold professional standards and avoid publications it believes could mislead voters or deepen political, ethnic and religious divisions.

Drawing a comparison with former United States President Abraham Lincoln, the council argued that electoral setbacks do not necessarily signal the end of a politician’s career, noting that political fortunes can change with circumstances and public opinion.

It expressed confidence that Binani’s political experience, knowledge of the state and established political profile would give her a competitive advantage in the governorship race.

The campaign council urged its supporters and the people of Adamawa State to disregard TG News Online’s assessment, describing it as an inaccurate reflection of Binani’s political prospects.

It maintained that the senator remains a formidable contender for the governorship, expressing optimism about her chances of victory in the forthcoming election.
