Adamawa Govt, NMA Begin Three-Day Free Medical Outreach In Lamurde.

The Adamawa State Government, in collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Adamawa State Chapter, has commenced a three-day free medical and surgical outreach in Lamurde Local Government Area to improve access to healthcare services, particularly for residents affected by recurring communal crises.

The intervention, holding at Lamurde Cottage Hospital from November 5 to 7, 2026, is designed to bring essential and specialist medical services closer to rural communities, especially those facing challenges accessing quality healthcare.

Speaking during the exercise, Chairman of the NMA in Adamawa State, Dr Badly Noel, said the outreach was fully supported by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as part of his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

Dr Noel explained that Lamurde was selected because of the recurring communal crises in the area, which have left many residents vulnerable and in need of medical attention.

Declaring the outreach open on behalf of the Lamurde Local Government Chairman, Hon. Burto William, his deputy, Agnes Jonathan, commended Governor Fintiri for extending the healthcare intervention to the people.

She urged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity by turning out in large numbers to access the free medical and surgical services.

Some beneficiaries, including Ruth Thomoso, Pwadadi Evans and David Solomon Ebolo, who is living with sickle cell anaemia, expressed gratitude to the state government for the intervention.

They described the outreach as a significant relief, particularly for residents who struggle to afford hospital bills, medical investigations and prescribed medications.

The beneficiaries also appealed to other political leaders to emulate the initiative by supporting programmes that directly address the healthcare needs of rural communities.
The three-day Fresh Air Free Medical and Surgical Outreach is expected to provide medical relief to thousands of residents while reinforcing the state government’s efforts to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare across Adamawa State.
