The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has called on Nigerians to promote tolerance and unity across ethnic and religious lines as Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri emphasized that peaceful coexistence and mutual respect are essential for building a strong and united nation. He noted that the values of love, forgiveness, and brotherhood demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan should be sustained beyond the festive period.
The governor stressed that Nigeria’s progress depends on citizens embracing unity and prioritizing harmonious living, adding that such values would enable the country to overcome its current challenges.
Expressing concern over recent security concerns in parts of the country, Fintiri urged traditional and religious leaders to encourage vigilance and heightened security awareness during and after the celebrations. He also advised citizens to avoid crowded places as a precautionary measure.
Governor Fintiri highlighted that Eid-el-Fitr symbolizes devotion to Allah and respect for humanity, noting that national development requires collective responsibility, patriotism, and service.
He commended residents of Adamawa State for maintaining peaceful coexistence despite diverse backgrounds and acknowledged the role of security agencies in sustaining stability across the state.
Despite prevailing economic challenges, the governor said his administration has recorded notable progress over the past seven years and called on citizens to continue supporting government policies and programmes aimed at inclusive development.
