GPF’S PLEA TO GOV FINTIRI TO SAVE SUNDAY JACKSON

The Gongola People’s Forum(GPF), a National Socio-Cultural Association of all ethnic nationalities of Gongola origin Adamawa State, is compelled to make this plea to Governor Fintiri as the last man standing to save the soul of one of his citizens who stands condemned to death by the failure of the law of the Nigerian system to uphold his right to defend himself.

GPF understands that it all started on Sunday Jackson’s farm. While Jackson was working on his farm, an unknown Fulani herder reared his cows into the farm and they started eating up Mr Jackson’s crops. When Jackson demanded that the man drive his herds out, the herder removed a knife and attacked Jackson wounding on his leg and other part of his body. However, Jackson overpowered his assailant, collected his knife and fatally wounded him on the neck.

Mr Jackson was arrested and charged to Court in Yola and was subsequently convicted and sentenced to die by hanging by the lower court on the ground that having overpowered the attacker, he should have simply run away instead of engaging him.The case went through the Court of Appeal and eventually ended up before the Supreme Court which upheld the verdicts of the lower Courts.

Our legal team having reviewed the case and advised accordingly, we are moved by the failure of the law of our legal system that has been under the scrutiny and interrogation by Human Rights Groups for decades, to appeal to our Governor, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a man with an impeccable record of compassion for his people and humanity, a man that values life above power of advantage and systemic failure of due diligence which has crippled the essence and impact of the rule of law, and a man of indisputably high profile as our last arbiter standing, to save this condemned soul and grant him clemency by way of a State Pardon in order to let the man live!

We in GPF are pro life and our confidence in approaching His Excellency on this matter is based on the condition that Governor Fintiri is a leader of sound mind and empathy, a well bred and devout muslim who is pro life and has a demostrable track record of peace building and true justice which attributes stand him out in a comparative corelationship with the exercise of the mercy of God, a leader any body can easily appeal to with hope of unfailing forgiveness.

Your Excellency, GPF humbly pleads for mercy for the soul of Sunday Jackson. GPF believes in you and we are hopeful sir that you will exercise your Constitutional right of prerogative of mercy to pardon Sunday Jackson whom the law has failed.
God bless our Governor Rt.Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Signed
