The acting district head of Kirchinga, Alhaji Lawan Abubakar Umar, has dismissed a social media post attributed to former Senator Ishaku Abbo, calling it fake news.
In a phone conversation with Dominic Yohanna on Tuesday, Alhaji Lawan Abubakar Umar confirmed that the incident took place on the outskirts of Kirchinga, near the border between Borno and Adamawa States.
“It was a man named Winner Amana who went into the bush for firewood and encountered terrorists outside Kirchinga,” he explained, referring to the border communities between Borno and Adamawa States.
“I want to state categorically that security issues should not be politicized in any way,” he added.
The acting district head also urged former Senator Ishaku Abbo to verify his sources of information before sharing them with the public, especially during such critical times, as the media plays a significant role in shaping public perception.
