Ganye Chairman Marks 100 Days with Thanksgiving, Renewed Development Pledge

The Chairman of Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Kamsobbi Daniel Puren, has marked his first 100 days in office with a thanksgiving service at the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), Ganye, pledging to strengthen security, improve infrastructure and empower youths and women.

The event attracted local government chairmen from across Adamawa State, legislators, political stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including the party’s governorship candidate, Jijjani Galadima, who was represented by his running mate, Adamu Kamale.

Speaking during an interview at the service, Puren expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, while acknowledging Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s role in his emergence as council chairman.

He described the celebration as an opportunity to appreciate God for the administration’s progress and reaffirm his commitment to delivering development to the people of Ganye.

Puren said his administration had, within its first 100 days, provided relief materials to victims of flooding in collaboration with relevant emergency management agencies, including the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

He added that the council was addressing infrastructure challenges, disclosing that the chairman’s office complex was about 95 per cent complete.

The council, he said, had also commenced the development of a commercial facility at Buangala to boost internally generated revenue and acquired land for the proposed Fintiri Fresh Air Community Market.

On security, Puren said the administration had procured five motorcycles to support local security operations, while also extending assistance to women, youths and farmers through various empowerment initiatives and the provision of agricultural implements.

He explained that the interventions were designed to improve livelihoods, strengthen local economic activities and position Ganye for sustainable development.

The chairman stressed that unity and social cohesion remained central to his administration’s priorities, noting that bringing the people together would create an enabling environment for development.

“We want to put the people of Ganye together to ensure a united front and good social cohesion,” he said.

Puren also called on residents to support his administration, particularly as it introduces reforms aimed at connecting young people to digital opportunities, information and communication technology, educational institutions and mentorship programmes.

He maintained that his age should not be considered a limitation, citing his experience across the humanitarian sector, World Bank-supported projects, and public and private sector engagements as assets he intends to deploy in governing the council.

According to him, some of the administration’s policies may initially require public understanding and acceptance, but sustained cooperation and resilience would help achieve the desired results.

Puren expressed optimism that Ganye would experience significant transformation within the next two and a half years if residents supported the council’s development agenda.

In his remarks at the thanksgiving service, APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Adamu Kamale and other speakers offered messages of goodwill and encouragement, highlighting the importance of leadership, gratitude and service to the people.

The celebration also featured plans for a hospital outreach, during which the council chairman and his entourage were expected to visit patients and extend support as part of efforts to demonstrate concern for their welfare.
