The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Amb. Engr. Omar Suleiman, popularly known as Omarana, has reaffirmed his commitment to peaceful, issue-based politics, respect for the rule of law and the pursuit of practical solutions to the state’s development challenges.
In a statement titled “I Come in Peace,”
Omarana thanked members of the ADC, support groups, volunteers and residents of Adamawa State for their continued support of his vision of “Adamawa That Works – For Today, For Tomorrow.” He also commended the party’s leadership, including its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, National Chairman Senator David Mark and the Adamawa State Chairman, Barrister Sadiq Dasin, for strengthening the party’s presence across the country.
Reacting to the recent court judgment over the unauthorised pasting of campaign posters on public structures, Omarana said his campaign accepted the court’s decision as a demonstration of respect for lawful institutions and democratic accountability.
He maintained that he neither authorised nor encouraged the unlawful acts but stressed that compliance with the judgment reflects responsible leadership.
The ADC candidate said the incident should serve as a lesson to campaign members, stressing that discipline, respect for public property and obedience to the law remain core values of his campaign.
Omarana also called for broader attention to environmental issues, arguing that environmental protection should extend beyond campaign posters to include challenges such as indiscriminate waste disposal, blocked drainage systems and poor sanitation across communities in Adamawa.
He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise modern waste management through recycling, waste-to-energy projects, organic fertiliser production and other initiatives aimed at creating jobs while improving environmental sustainability.
The governorship hopeful said his administration would draw inspiration from successful environmental models, including the “Waste to Wealth” initiative at the American University of Nigeria, to promote public-private partnerships in waste management and green enterprise.
Omarana appealed to his supporters and other political actors to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electioneering period, urging them to avoid inflammatory statements and acts capable of disrupting public peace.
He added that his campaign would remain focused on presenting policy proposals on job creation, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, infrastructure, technology and environmental protection rather than engaging in political distractions.
The ADC candidate concluded by assuring the people of Adamawa State that his campaign would continue to uphold civility, dignity and peaceful engagement as the 2027 governorship race gathers momentum.
