In a significant development that promises to reshape the traditional institutions within the Adamawa state, the Gongola Peoples Forum (GPF) has lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his proactive efforts in reforming and restructuring the traditional landscape.

This initiative, according to them, aims to provide the indigenous peoples of Gongola with a renewed sense of self-determination and autonomy.

Addressing newsmen, the National Chairman, Engr. Markus Gundiri through
Chief Barr Leonard D. Nzadon emphasized the GPF’s commitment to supporting the Governor’s measures as a pathway to reclaim these rights, seeing them as a courageous step forward.

The GPF calls on all community members to recognize and support the Governor’s initiative, reinforcing the importance of unity and progress.

According to the body, the establishment of new Chiefdoms and Emirates, accompanied by the appointment of new Chiefs and Emirs, represents a hopeful shift towards increased freedom and democratic governance for the community, reflecting the Governor’s dedication to promoting good governance and empowering local leadership.

The GPF is said to have taken an active role in mobilizing community support for the Governor’s reforms, which seek to put an end to the feudal practices that have hindered the rights of indigenous peoples, addressing the legacy of colonialism and indirect rule.

Additionally, the organization has extended its support to the newly appointed Chiefs and Emirs, encouraging them to lead with honour, dignity, and integrity, prioritizing the welfare of their constituents, and ensuring that the new Chiefdoms and Emirates thrive and fully realize the benefits of these reforms.

The GPF has made it clear that its support for Governor Fintiri’s actions is steadfast, and any attempts to reverse these reforms will encounter strong community resistance, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among all ethnic nationalities.

As the people of Gongola embrace this new chapter of freedom and democracy, they are expressing heartfelt gratitude to God and Governor Fintiri for his courageous actions in paving the way toward liberation from alien rule. The GPF congratulates the newly appointed Chiefs and Emirs and stands ready to assist them as they embark on their important roles.

With this transformative change, the people of Gongola have the potential to experience a new era of peace, prosperity, and development.

The GPF is committed to playing a leading role in this promising journey, ensuring that the Governor’s vision is realized and that the state’s traditional institutions are empowered to serve the community effectively. Together, the GPF and the people of Gongola look forward to building a brighter and more inclusive future.
