The Nigerian Army has emphasized the importance of training for career advancement, as stated by Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH).
He highlighted this during the opening ceremony of the 3 Division’s Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition at Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa state.
Representing the GOC, Brigadier General Adiyu Aminu, 3 Division Training Officer (DTO), stressed that training is a cornerstone of the Nigerian Army and essential for career progression.
The competition aims to enhance personnel skills and competence, enabling them to effectively address national security challenges.
The event, which brings together troops from various formations, is designed to strengthen their capabilities and prepare them for efficient performance in any capacity. Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, Commander 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, commended the GOC/Commander OPSH for his dedication to ensuring adequate training for troops.
The week-long competition features events such as a novelty tug-of-war between security agencies and a tug-of-war contest between participating formations.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Auwal Bamanga Tukur, and representatives from security and paramilitary agencies.
