In light of the increasing temperatures, Chief Felix Tangwami, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services for Adamawa State, has issued a public advisory regarding the potential risks associated with heatstroke and meningitis.
This announcement was made during a state house briefing that followed a meeting of the state executive council at the government house in Yola.
Chief Tangwami urged residents to remain vigilant by staying appropriately hydrated, limiting prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and, when feasible, remaining indoors.
Furthermore, he addressed the acquisition of new CT scan machines for the Specialist Hospital in Yola and the General Hospital in Numan, emphasizing that these developments represent a significant advancement in addressing the healthcare challenges faced by the state.
The Commissioner reported that the Kidney Centre at the Specialist Hospital is now fully operational and providing free services to the public. Additionally, improvements have been made to the public laboratory, and the administrative complex has undergone refurbishment.
To further enhance healthcare delivery, plans are underway to remodel the hospital’s staff quarters to accommodate healthcare professionals working in critical units, such as emergency and intensive care.
