In a significant collaboration, the Adamawa State Government and Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria have unveiled a plan to empower over 1,000 young people, women, and individuals with disabilities in the state.
Funded by the World Bank through the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project, this initiative aims to equip unemployed individuals with the necessary skills for self-reliance.
During a press briefing in Yola, Mr. Vincent Umaru, a business consultant from Mentors Hub, elaborated that the training program will prioritize digital inclusion and entrepreneurship. The three-month training will specifically target at least 60% women and 30% individuals with disabilities.
Mr Olatunbosun Adeniyi, the project manager, emphasized the significance of empowering marginalized groups to enable their meaningful contributions to society. He underscored the partnership with government agencies, private sector organizations, and NGOs to ensure the success of the project.
The project’s Technical Support Officer, Cletus Oluju, and Communication Officer, Mr Charles Doke, provided reassurance to participants regarding their safety and active involvement in the training.
Representing the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Thomas Amos commended Mentors Hub for complementing the government’s efforts to tackle unemployment and promote inclusive development.
