The senator representing Adamawa central senatorial district, Aminu Iya Abbas, in conjunction with the Centre for Management Development (CMD) and the Iya Abbas Foundation (IAF), has flagged off Free Medical Outreach targeting over 7,000 less privileged constituents from Gombi, Girei and Fufore local government areas.
Speaking while flagging off the event Wednesday at Cottage Hospital Gombi, Senator Abbas, who was represented by the council chairman of Gombi local government Mr. Markus Ishaya disclosed that the free medical outreach is to be manned by a high-powered medical team led by Chief Consultant Doctor Wadinga Dauda among other professionals from various medical fields
He noted that the outreach program will focus not only on treatment but also on preventive measures, early detection, regular check-ups, health screenings and education on healthy practices that can help to prevent diseases as well as to detect potential health issues early on.

Speaking during the flag-off program, the Director General Centre for Management Development, who was represented by Alhaji Adamu Ahmed and the representative of Vintage Project Monitoring Services, Ms Fareedah Bako, separately highlighted the aims and objectives of the program and called on the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity to improve their health status.
The CMD, VPMS and collaborators urged the beneficiaries to appreciate Senator Aminu Iya Abbas for providing free medical outreach in the constituency, describing the gesture as timely considering the present economic hardship.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the team leader of the outreach, Doctor Wadinga Dauda, said a team of 25 medical doctors, 45 Nurses, and 10 Laboratory Scientists, among other supporting staff, were engaged and would examine, perform operations and provide free drugs to the patients.
Wadinga added that thousands of people from the three local government areas comprising Gombi, Girei and Fufore with different ailments would receive free medical care at their doorstep.
According to him, the medical outreach would consist of providing free drugs for Diabetes, Hypertension and Malaria to the less privileged persons in the area.
He further disclosed that the team of medical Doctors would also perform free hyaena operations; a persons with dental problems would all be examined and treated and provided with free drugs.
He added that the next phase of the mega medical outreach will target over 10, 000 people from the remaining local government areas.
Speaking separately, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Alhaji Hamman Barau, and AIA Coordinator Gombi Alhaji Kawu Boga commended the senator for justifying the confidence reposed in him by the electorate through quality representation.
Called on wealthy individuals to emulate the kind gesture of Senator Abbas in assisting poor and less privileged people, particularly in the area of health.
Some of the beneficiaries, while appreciating the senator for providing them with free medical care, described him as a lawmaker who put the interest of his constituents above any other interest.
