The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kufulfo, has called upon stakeholders to foster a society in which no child suffers in silence and where every child possesses the ability to communicate their concerns and pursue their aspirations without fear or intimidation.
Mrs. Kufulfo issued this appeal during a press conference held in her office in anticipation of the forthcoming 2025 International Children’s Day celebration.
She clarified that this annual event is observed on May 27th across Nigeria and serves as a crucial platform for raising awareness regarding the issues and challenges confronted by children, as well as advocating for necessary interventions to protect them from various forms of violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
This year’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” highlights the imperative to empower children to speak out against bullying and to cultivate a culture of safety, respect, and inclusion within all environments where children reside, learn, and engage in recreational activities.

Mrs. Kufulfo detailed the program of activities organized by the Ministry to commemorate this year’s celebration, which includes a Children’s March Pass and Parade scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 8:00 AM at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Jimeta Yola.
All schoolchildren from across the state are expected to participate in this ceremonial parade, which will be followed by a Children’s fair at 2:00 PM on the same day. The fair will take place at the Women’s Development Centre and will feature a variety of recreational activities and entertainment.
The Commissioner urged all stakeholders, including educators, community leaders, civil society organizations, and media representatives, to collaborate with the Ministry to ensure the success of this celebration and to safeguard the rights and welfare of every child in the state.
She emphasized the importance of creating a society where no child suffers in silence, every child can express their thoughts freely, and their dreams can be pursued without fear or threat.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Zainab Umar Adamu, expressed her appreciation to all partners for their support and collaboration with the Ministry, wishing all children a peaceful and successful observance of International Children’s Day.
