Segun Sowunmi, every sane man who speaks about you must reflect on the remarkable impact you had played in shaping the narrative of political democracy, not only in the PDP but the entire Nigerian nation. Your vision, integrity, and dedication towards the betterment of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and, by extension, our political democracy and national economy have been selfless.
Segun is a great leader; he inspires others, especially young people, who are to lead the entire enterprise called Nigeria in the near future. Through words and actions, you have always spoken truth to power. He is one of Nigeria’s politicians who will always talk about good governance and true and functional democracy during and even after elections. He dares all odd to express his displeasure at every forum in the way Nigeria is governed today, no matter whose ox is gored. His quest is for a better PDP and a Greater Nigeria.
In all the political scenes that I have followed, he has always left behind a legacy that transcends time. Possessing the ability to unite people, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose for every Nigeria, irrespective of party, ethnicity or creed. His wisdom and compassion guide young people like us in making political decisions that benefit the greater good, and an unwavering commitment to the principles serves as a beacon for those who follow.
Segun’s achievements are not just measured by accolades but by the lives they touched, the ills they addressed and the positive change they championed. At this point of our political journey in the PDP, a great and experienced leader is required, a man who cannot be swayed by the tide of tribe, influence, intimidation and even the might of fat cheques or positions.
The acrimony within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the build-up to and aftermath of the 2023 presidential polls has sparked a conversation about its urgent need for reform, which will take a great mind to put an end to the confusion and build a formidable party that will stand the test of time as 2027 general elections draw closer. That mind lies in the man called Otumba Segun Sowunmi.
“Well, for almost a year now, I’ve been preoccupied with the need for the political party, especially the PDP, to be reformed” – Segun Sowunmi.
As it is his fame desire to have a workable and reformed PDP, concerning the challenges of democracy in Nigeria. He is poised on how to remodel and have a PDP platform that is working, united and capable of winning the election. He is ready and experienced to manage and keep all interest groups on the same platform, ensuring no one runs away with the structure and no one is completely left out. Making sure members believe and obey the laws, rules, and regulations governing the party. The ability to review past activities given that the PDP has lost three elections back-to-back at the national level. Segun Sowunmi is prepared to dare these odds.
He is ready to push the party hard, not by fighting them, but by trying to inspire them, encourage them, and nudge them in all the directions that they need to go for the betterment of the party and taking over power at the centre, to rescue Nigeria.
Segun has been very vocal on political and national issues. He speaks for positive change in Nigeria and does not keep quiet as others do. Many have observed, expecting him to move, jump ship, and join the APC, especially now that the ball is actually in the court of Southwest Nigeria. Sowunmi would have gotten any position of choice if he had moved to APC, but he is a politician with principles and not a stomach infrastructure kind. His quest is for a better Nigeria, and he believes that PDP is the only vehicle that can deliver, but it needs an organized, strong and united party to do so, and he is the best bet to champion such.
In one of his words, and I quote “I think the objective of winning elections is equivalent to not winning elections in terms of policy. Still, I feel that there’s also a need for democracy to be balanced by the activities of a reformed opposition. I think the more the opposition reforms itself, the better its chances of winning, and even at that, the better its opportunity to inspire the ruling party”. A man with such a word is a polished politician with worth to deliver.
Segun believes in working very hard, adding value to every organization he belongs and not searching for where the next cheque will come from. He is resilient, fighting the course of PDP for 25 years, with no move or intent of leaving, even when it seems that all hope is lost, he remains, working hard, building bridges, mending fences, calming and encouraging flare/provoked minds.
“I don’t believe you should get up and join another house when you have no role to play; you should not be afraid of being an opposition”. Segun Sowonmi – He is ready!
Segun, over the years, through his committed participation in party politics, especially in the PDP, garnered unquantified experience. Today, he has worked out a modality to rescue and stabilize the party when given the opportunity. With his 4Rs Agenda of Restructuring the leadership structure of PDP for the better and functional; Repositioning the party to be a formidable opposition in Nigeria, ready to take over power in 2027; Re-strategize the information management and practical activities of the PDP; and Rescue the party from the clutches old, and ineffective ideas of primordial sentiment that have kept the party backward for long. Let’s do a new thing for new and positive results.
The PDP need you to repair her broken parts; It needs you to mend her fallen fences; it needs you to unite her scattered members. The PDP needs you to return and retain her pride of Place.
Let’s vote for Otumba Segun Sowunmi for National Chairman PDP
A Leader we can trust!
A leader that believes in the PDP!!
A leader that is working towards the growth of Nigeria’s Democracy!!!
