Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has praised the Twenty-Third Brigade of the Nigerian Army for their commendable efforts in enhancing peace and security in Adamawa State.

This recognition took place during the 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA), held at the Twenty-Third Battalion Parade Ground at the Army Barracks.

In the Governor’s absence, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta conveyed appreciation for the Brigade’s effective actions against crime, kidnapping, and other security challenges.

These efforts have significantly reduced criminal activities, fostering a more conducive environment for economic growth and socio-political development.

Governor Fintiri emphasized the vital role of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, which has led to successful joint operations and a more peaceful state.

He reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to supporting the Brigade’s operations and encouraged them to remain diligent, proactive, and professional in addressing emerging challenges.

The Governor also took the opportunity to commend the troops and their families for their sacrifices and dedication to upholding peace and unity in Nigeria.

In his welcome address, Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, Commander of the Three Brigade of the Nigerian Army, shared that the West African Social Activities (WASA) is an annual event designed to celebrate the completion of training and activities while also highlighting the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the officers, soldiers, and their families.

The event showcased a variety of social and cultural displays, musical performances, and regimental activities, providing a platform for meaningful social interactions and allowing the public to appreciate the diverse customs and traditions of the barracks community.

Brigadier General Zawaya noted that WASA underscores the Barracks as a vibrant melting pot of different cultures and social backgrounds. He reiterated the Brigade’s unwavering commitment to its constitutional responsibilities, approaching their duties with enthusiasm and a deep sense of loyalty.

The Army Commander expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his supportive role and remarkable understanding of the Brigade’s activities, especially highlighting the valuable support received during Operation FARAUTA, which has led to positive outcomes across the State.

The event’s highlights included traditional displays, a tug of war among various security agencies, special presentations to guests, and a joyous campfire celebration with Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.
